Ryan Carbone is a recent graduate of the University of Virginia, School of Architecture. Originally from the Midwest and educated at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, he has a strong interest in historical precedents and structural realities. He gained practical experience while rebuilding an energy efficient house as a member of a small design team. Later, after re-locating to Chicago he learned the craft of woodworking and furniture building while renovating a 19th century Wicker Park residence. His most recent work can be characterized by surface ruptures - piercing roofs for lighting, unearthing subterranean water streams, and integrating displaced refugees in a new cosmopolitan condition.
